Dutch Baby Recipe

Quick and Easy Dutch Baby for Busy Mornings

A Dutch baby is basically a fluffy, oven-baked pancake that feels special but is surprisingly easy to make. It’s naturally slightly sweet, soft in the middle, and crisp around the edges - perfect for little hands. Enjoy it plain or fill it with fruit, and top it with chia jam, a dollop of yogurt, or nothing at all and you’ve got a breakfast that’s fun, filling, and balanced without needing any syrup.

Bonus: it’s quick to prep and feels fancy enough to make mornings a little more exciting.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/2 c flour

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional)

  • 1/2 c milk

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon or to taste

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • Pinch of salt

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • Berries or diced fruit (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°. You can either preheat the oven with your cast iron in it, or put it in for five or 10 minutes before baking your Dutch baby. You want it to be hot.

  2. Blend all ingredients except butter together in a blender, scraping the sides as needed.

  3. Once oven is preheated, put butter in the cast iron and let it melt in the oven for 1-2 minutes but make sure it doesn’t burn.

  4. Once melted, pour ingredients from the blender into the hot buttered cast iron.

  5. Top with berries or diced fruit if you’d like! We’ve done fresh, frozen, and plain! All delicious.

  6. Transfer to oven as quickly as possible and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. As it cools it will fall! That’s normal.

  7. Cut and serve!

You can serve with more fresh fruit, yogurt, chia jam, nut butter, or maple syrup but we like it plain! It’s delicious!
